Nyfiken (Curious)
Nyfiken (Curious) is based on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. You will learn about all dimensions of sustainability: biological, economic, and social sustainability.
The goal is for you to understand the connection between social, economic and ecological conditions in a society. Students should experience that our actions and choices matter, and that we must therefore make responsible choices and act ethically and environmentally conscious.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
What are they about? How do we approach it? What is being done? What can you do?
We do this in class.
We teach sustainable practical life skills. Everyone should learn to use simple tools (like drills and screwdrivers), be able to cook healthy leftovers, do simple clothing repairs and know how to maintain technical equipment like phones and computers. There is a lot of money to be saved by being environmentally smart.
Every year we participate in Amnesty's Write for Life campaign. The students write letters of solidarity to people who are fighting a hard fight for their own and others' rights, and sign letters of action that are sent to the authorities in countries where human rights are threatened.
Active teaching
The school is located in a very nice area that we actively use in our teaching. We go down to the shore or into the forest to get to know nature.
The school is visited by committed individuals, organizations and companies. It can be anything from the UN to the cleaning company BIR or people like Amanda Sailing who have things they want to share with us. Some tell about things they have done, others have role plays or other activities for the students.
When there are important days to be marked, we work with themes related to that day. Examples of such days are Sami Day, Women's Day, Holocaust Day and the TV campaign.
