Exercise and hiking opportunities

There are good opportunities to exercise and be physically active at Fana.

We make it easy to be physically active. Firstly, we have many active elective courses (such as ball games, climbing, outdoor trips and canoeing, see the elective course overview). Secondly, the training room is always open, the gymnasium is available until late in the evening, and the local area is perfect for a quick or leisurely walk 24/7.

  • Here you will find treadmills, a punching bag, free weights and other exercise equipment. Open every day.

  • The good thing about being on folkehøgskole is that it is easy to gather others who want to play football, floorball, basketball, cannonball – or other activities. The gym is always open to the school's students.

  • We are also fortunate that the school is located in the middle of a large, beautiful green area. Whether you want to go for a walk or go for a jog, there are many paths and good training trails that wind around the local area.

  • In Grønneviken, which is a five-minute walk from the school, you will find a nice bathing spot with a diving board. Lovely on warm days, but can also be used at other times of the year - perhaps for the most daring?

  • Bergen is surrounded by 7 mountains. They are Fløyen (320 m), Rundemannen (568 m), Ulriken (643 m), Lyderhorn (396 m), Løvstakken (477 m), Damsgårdsfjellet (284 m) and Sandviksfjellet (392 m). If you take the trip into the city, you can, for example, take the Fløybanen cable car up. Then you have a nice starting point for many great trips, or you can just enjoy the fantastic view over Bergen city.
