Join Peter on a trip to the historically interesting valley where people lived until the 1920s.
Farming has been practiced in Våkendalen since the Viking Age. At the beginning of the 20th century, thirteen farms were still in operation in the entire Isdalen.
The valley was previously inhabited by four farms: Tarlebø, Kobbeltveit, Hardbakke and Garmannslund (also called Schankegården). These farms were acquired by Bergen municipality to prevent pollution of the drinking water from the Svartediket around the turn of the last century. There was some activity on the farms until the Second World War, but after this the farms were demolished and the fields planted, mainly with spruce.
