Fellesfag om Vest-Sahara

The Support Committee for Western Sahara works to defend the rights of the Sahrawi people in Norway, the UN and the EU.

Africa's last colony

Many people believe that the colonial era is over. It is not. On the UN map of the remaining colonies in Africa, there is still one unresolved colonial issue left. Neighboring Morocco occupies parts of Western Sahara and prevents decolonization.

A people on the run

Around 200,000 Sahrawis have fled their homeland and currently live in refugee camps on the Algerian side of the border with Western Sahara.

Resource theft

Western Sahara has some of the world's richest phosphate and fish deposits. One of Morocco's main motives behind the occupation of Western Sahara has always been the territory's valuable natural resources.
