Bergen Fringe Festival er en årlig internasjonal festival for det frie profesjonelle og det frivillige scenekunstfeltet. Festivalen har utspring i Cornerteateret.

The festival is motivated by a desire to bring new impulses to the field locally and nationally, offer local and national companies an international arena, as well as distribution through the international Fringe network.

Fringe is a term associated with as many as 250 festivals around the world, and defines a special structure and distinctive execution, while also having a very open artistic content.

Fringe is an international movement that offers varied stage expressions, and which, through its organization, provides expressions and experiences rarely found at other festivals.

Fringe is less curated and programmed than other festivals. The festival's program defines itself by artists and companies expressing their interest in participating. The programming is done by a program committee consisting of various professionals within the performing arts community. The program is put together after a professional assessment of the applications received from artists and companies.

Fringe can present an artistic expression and (offer) that is free from commercial guidelines, and captures the innovative trends that are relevant at any given time, precisely by facilitating an attractive viewing arena, with a relatively low participant threshold.

The festival offers artists a platform for artistic exploration and experimentation by opening up productions in a smaller format.

Vi skal bygge bro mellom det frie profesjonelle og det frivillige scenekunstfeltet. Det etablerte scenekunstfeltet i Norge skiller mellom det å være “amatør” og det å være “profesjonell” utøver. Bergen Fringe Festival eksisterer i brytnings-feltet disse i mellom. Det profesjonelle spennet på utøverne gir festivalen et unikt uttrykk.
