Amnesty is holding a seminar about prejudice and diversity

  • Fana Folkehøgskule 190 Mildevegen Hjellestad , Vestland, 5259 Norway (map)

How does prejudice affect us when faced with gender and sexual diversity? How can we create a culture of respect and understanding? These questions are at the center when Amnesty visits our school with an important and relevant seminar.

Amnesty is introducing a completely new teaching program that gives students the opportunity to explore the topic of prejudice in the face of gender and sexual diversity through the tool Human Rights Dialogue . This is a dialogue-based method that creates a safe framework for reflection and conversation. The goal is to give students space to discuss and think critically about how prejudice in the face of gender and sexual diversity can be expressed in everyday life, and how we can challenge them.

During the seminar, students will work with various cases, personal stories, and factual knowledge. Through these tools, they will gain a deeper understanding of how prejudice affects people in their daily lives. At the same time, they will have the opportunity to share their own reflections, listen to the perspectives of others, and practice being in a community of disagreement – a space where different opinions can coexist with respect and understanding.

This seminar is an important part of the school's work to promote openness, inclusion and human rights. We are delighted to welcome Amnesty and look forward to an educational and engaging day with them.
