About Sigurd

Sigurd is from Stanghelle in Vaksdal and has education from, among others, the Grieg Academy and Sund folkehøgskole He has a bachelor's degree in performing jazz (percussion) and practical-pedagogical education, which gives him both a solid academic background and good tools as a teacher.

Som musiker har han allerede spilt konserter både i Norge og utlandet, og han er aktiv i flere band og prosjekter – blant annet Trøen/Arnesen Kvartett, Knut Kristiansen Kvartett, Atari og General Post Office. Han har også vikariert i Bergen Big Band og spilt med Stavanger Symfoniorkester. I tillegg har han turnert med bluesstjernene Mike Zito og Guy Forsyth.

Sigurd is passionate about understanding what makes music great – and why. He is a versatile drummer with a primary focus on jazz, and he loves to delve into the building blocks of music. As a teacher, he is committed, curious and committed to helping students develop both technically and creatively.
