About Sigurd

Sigurd is from Stanghelle in Vaksdal and has education from, among others, the Grieg Academy and Sund folkehøgskole He has a bachelor's degree in performing jazz (percussion) and practical-pedagogical education, which gives him both a solid academic background and good tools as a teacher.

As a musician, he has already played concerts both in Norway and abroad, and he is active in several bands and projects – including Trøen/Arnesen Quartet, Knut Kristiansen Quartet, Atari and General Post Office. He has also filled in for Bergen Big Band and played with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. He has also toured with blues stars Mike Zito and Guy Forsyth.

Sigurd is passionate about understanding what makes music great – and why. He is a versatile drummer with a primary focus on jazz, and he loves to delve into the building blocks of music. As a teacher, he is committed, curious and committed to helping students develop both technically and creatively.
